How we set these ranges

I sold HVAC inside the Costco program for 12 years. These ranges come from that work — not from scraping blog posts.

Our ranges come from more than a decade of pricing HVAC repair and replacement work in the Phoenix market — real flat-rate structures, real wholesale part costs, and what full-service companies in the Valley actually charge.

A fair quote is more than parts plus labor. It carries the diagnostic visit, licensed and insured labor, warranty on the work, and the overhead of running a legitimate company. Our "fair" zone includes all of that. The "high" zone is where you should ask questions. "Excessive" is where the same repair, same warranty, is routinely available for far less.

Quotes legitimately vary — brand of part, warranty length, after-hours timing, and how hard your system is to access all move the number. That's why we show a range, not a price.

We update ranges as the market moves. Refrigerant transitions and part costs have shifted quickly; a range from last year can be wrong this year.

What we log

Every verdict records the ZIP, the repair, and the quoted amount, with no personal data attached. That is how we calibrate the ranges over time. See privacy.

Ranges updated July 21, 2026. Estimates are planning ranges based on regional market data, not binding quotes. Final pricing depends on your specific system and an on-site diagnosis.
